There are several planned closures this weekend, especially with the Queen lying in state and the queue to see Her Majesty's coffin causing some disruption

There are several closure planned across London's transport network this weekend, with mourners across the country travelling to see the Queen lying in state facing some disruption. Transport for London (TfL) has expanded some services this weekend to help mourners, as well as make up for any disruption caused by the 11-hour long queue across Central London, but there are still several closures travellers should be aware of.

As well as travel disruption expected throughout the long weekend, there will be ongoing road closure and bus diversions on Tuesday, September 20, and onwards as TfL removes infrastructure for the Queen's funeral which takes place on Monday (September 19). This could take several days.

Many London Underground stations will be busier than usual due to the people travelling for the Queen lying in state and the funeral on Monday. TfL says it plans to issue some short-term safety measures around queuing, closures, non-stopping, or changes to the entrances and exits of stations.

Green Park station: This station is exit only between 10am and 10pm from Friday, September 16, until Monday, September 19, due to the high number of travellers expected. TfL urges people to avoid the station unless absolutely necessary to allow those who need the step-free access to use it.

Westminster, St James's Park, Marble Arch, and Hyde Park Corner stations: TfL warns these stations will have changes to the way they operate from Sunday, September 18, to Monday, September 19. It did not specify what changes, but this is likely to be safety measures such as queuing, closures, non-stopping, or changes to the entrances and exits. Travellers should check their journeys before setting off in case extra travel time is needed.

Charing Cross, Embankment, Victoria, Waterloo, and Lancaster Gate stations: These stations are expected to be busier than normal, so travellers should avoid these stations where possible, allow for extra travel time, and check their journeys before setting off. Night Tube services will run as normal on Friday, September 16, and Saturday, September 17.

Several lines are running extra trains on the evening of The Queen's funeral on Monday, September 19. These are:

The London Overground will run as normal from Friday, September 16, to Monday, September 19.

Though the central section of the Elizabeth line does not usually run on Sundays while further safety testing is done, TfL will run 12 trains an hour on the section between Abbey Wood and Paddington on Sunday, September 18, to divert some of the extra traffic away from other stations and lines expected to be busier.

Due to road closures across London for the Queen lying in state, some buses will stop short of their destination, be diverted, or run a reduced frequency. These changes will remain in place into next week. For precise details of each bus route, travellers should check their routes in advance to allow for extra travel time if needed.

Victoria Coach Station will be closed due to road closures in the area. Coaches will be diverted to Hillingdon and Wembley Park. Some tour operators and sightseeing buses won't be able to run from Victoria either. If you have pre-booked, you are likely to be contacted by the relevant company but if you are planning an impromptu sightseeing tour on the day your best bet is to plan your trip and use one of the pick-up points on the eastern side of Central London if possible.

National Express services will use Wembley Stadium's coach parks (green for departures, pink for arrivals) instead. Passengers will have to use the London Underground or Chiltern Railways between Central London and Wembley; National Express staff will be on hand to help in Wembley.

The Oxford Tube will start and end at Baker Street from 4pm on Sunday until 6am on Tuesday, September 20, not serving Victoria, Marble Arch, Notting Hill Gate or Shepherd's Bush. Greenline coach 757 to Luton will also be cut back to Baker Street at the same time.

Most other coaches (including all Flixbus domestic routes and Megabus) will be re-routed to start or end at Hillingdon Tube station (where passengers can then use Oxford Tube or London Underground), with a handful at locations such as Golders Green, Finchley Road, Stratford and Vauxhall instead.

Flixbus' international route, which uses Stratford and North Greenwich, will continue to do so. Its other international routes will use Vauxhall. Transport for London is advising all passengers to plan and check their journeys before they travel both using TfL's website and that of their relevant coach operators.

TfL warns that parts of Central London, especially around Westminster, will be exceptionally busy due to the Queen lying in state and her funeral. Pedestrians may find that their journeys take longer due to crowds and road closures. Travellers should check their routes in advance to allow for potentially extra travel time.

Road closures will be in place across Central London this weekend, from Saturday, September 17, to Monday, September 19. Some taxi ranks will be suspended, with some extra temporary taxi ranks set up around Central London.
